micro climate - West Country

I know some areas, because of their local geography, have localised climate - more or less rain, for example, than might be expected for the area. La Rochelle, in France is sunnier than the surroundings, and in England Eastbourne, I think, breaks sunshine records.

We will be buying a house in Devon in the next 6 months or so and wondered if there were any particular areas that get less rainfall (or more sunshine!)

The weather map always seems to show rain over Barnstaple!

Cheers

Statistically, Exmouth gets the least rain - although I've no idea why!

the sun is shining in barnstaple today..............
Sorry but if your main criteria is where you will get the least amount of rain and the most amount of sunshine your looking in the wrong country.......also i would be more concerned with what the area was like i.e crime stats etc etc than the weather, FACT where ever you live in the uk you can expect rain
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

We moved into Barnstaple on Sunday - emptying the removal lorry in the rain - and we have not had a dry day since - although it was dry in the evening the day before yesterday. The forecast is wet too. I chatted to a lady in the library today and she told me there was a long standing typo - it's Wet country not West country. I'm off to look at a rainfall map of the UK!

    Cheers
