having problems with 'thanks'

Last week I bought a new laptop and since then, everytime I go to thank someone for a post I get the following message, which has never happened to me before:

kiwifruit, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
My old laptop had XP on it and now this new one is vista -does that have anything to do with it...I dont understand why its happening..thanks in advance

    in post 3 it says the following 2 users thanked you but only one is shoging,

    thank you for thanking me, but the problem is when I thank people ...when i hit the thanks button, my page then refreshes to the message that i posted in the OP...its not a huge problem - more annoying ......but thank you to those who have replied - id use the thanks button but i cant :o
