So many options!

last time I remortgaged I kinda just "told" the IFA what I wanted and they gave me a short list of options. as a result I ended up in a three year fixed rate which I hate and cripples us every month.

Since I decided to change direction in career and take a pay cut I consulted a different FA (one of those who is not tied into anyone or any company- I can't recall their title) and just very openly explained that we HAD to sell to downsize and we were struggling etc and they wandered off and came up with some cracking options! not that the deals are any more enticing than any others its just they gave me a load of options which hadn't even crossed my mind which could really help short term and long term

I feel so much more positive! I suppose I wanted to share, the moral of the story, if you are open and fully honest with the FA and YOURSELF over your financial situation and outlook then it gives them the scope to think laterally as well as literally. well it has worked for me at least!:j

I'm sure there are horror stories out there too!!!!

yup, the more info an IFA has the more tailored an suitable and advice is.
