paying self asessment tax by phone

Not sure this is the right place for this but...

Anyone know the phone number for the HMRC self assessment payment call centre?

Not a local office, not the debt management centre or business payment helpine, but the bog standard "Here's my reference number, here's my debit card number, thanks, bye" number.

I'm sure it exists but I can't find it on their website.... anyone?

HMRC prefer you to pay electronically, for security reasons. You can use your debit card online via BillPay. You can still send a cheque in the post, but cheques are gradually disappearing.
