Bargains for the freezer from the supermarkets

Not sure whether this is the right place to post this but seeing as it is only valid til the close of business on Sat I thought it qualifies as a 'grabbit'.
A lot of the big supermarkets will be closed on Sunday, ie Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S, Waitrose, Asda etc and they will inevitably have stock that has a best before/use by date of either Sat or Sun to sell.
I have found in the past that it is mainly on meat, bread, dairy products and fruit/veg that they will have the best reductions on but it depends on the supermarket. There will often be loads that can be frozen for a later date.
I remember at Christmas I went to a Tesco on Christmas Eve to get something and there were regular tannoy announcements that various things had been reduced to literally pennies. There are always products that have been over ordered etc that they will sell for dirt cheap rather than have to waste loads and bin it.
Of course it depends on your local supermarkets but with ones local to me I have found that the Sainsbury can be quite stingy in their reductions taking off 25% or less while the Tesco is pretty good, often taking off 75% off the original price or selling for only 10% of the original price. :T
Some of the supermarkets have a small version of themselves (Extra, Local) and they may be open so be aware of that.
Hope you find some bargains. :j

Timing is everything.
ASDA will "whoops" things by 25 to 33% for a first pass.
At the second pass you are down to 25% - 30% of the original price.
(I'm sure some ticket machine black belt will tell me the steps)
If it left at the third pass then fill your basket, especially meat.
If you are not careful you buy something old that was 2 for £5 knocked down to £2.40 and you think you got a bargain. You can get a fresh one for £2.50 albeit that you need to buy two to get that price.
I myself have been known to wrestle with a granny to get a cheap pizza or two.0 -
I got a dozen hot cross buns in Asda for 3 pence a packet recently, well 36 in total if I'm honest!0

Its at times like this that I wish I had a big freezer so I could benefit more and stock up. I have to be very selective but in some ways that may be a good thing.0

recently went to Sainsburys where they had items down to 20p..from £2.99
had a very nice fillet steak reduced from £3.49 to 40p
stocked up with a load of items which cost between 20p and 40p instead of the £2.99 to £3.99 price

I'm of to Tesco now to see if there are any bargains to be had.
Hope so!0 -
Been to sainsburys and somerfield and they had very little of anything reduced.
I might pop off to morrisons in a minute if I can drag husband away from the
computer.
Mainly seemed to be be people doing last minute easter egg shopping. As I walked down the down past them all. I said loudly to my husband. I would rather have a bar of chocolate get more for your money :rotfl:
