Can you post photos of the tree, then close-ups of the fruit and leaves?

    Might help with ID.

No :D I have a Morello cherry cropping beautifully outside my back door. The cherries are plump and bright red, but are sour as anything (great for jam and puddings :T )

  • If the birds have systematically stripped the tree of every last one the morning before you get there, it was a sweet cherry tree. If you have a chance to get and try some, they're probably going to be sour as anything!

Not so :D The birds are having a good go at my sour cherry tree; luckily there are plenty for them and us.

Iv'e been picking cherries at the side of the road. I think they are different sorts of cherry trees. As they have not all ripened at the same time. It is good as I keep going back when I have dealt with the last lot. Maybe they are just not ripe yet. Eat one in about a week and see.
