hi all my freezer door got left slighty open and it now has so much ice i can't shut it. i'm gonna have to defrost it.
can't get any of the stuff out so was wondering if i defrosted it and then cooked what i can and put it in tubs and refreezed it would that be ok. is there anything i can't refreeze.

Hi tinkerbellsmum,
Most things can be frozen if they haven't been previously frozen in the same state. Eg if meat has been frozen raw, you can change it's state (ie cook it) and refreeze it once. However if it was already cooked when frozen it can't be cooked and frozen again.

don't think anything is already cooked thanks.
got massive bag of frozen chips in there don't think i can cook them and freeze them can i?0 -
The food safety rules say they shouldn't be re-frozen, but personally I'd be inclined to use them today or pop them back in again as they are as I can't see how they could do much harm.

try covering the large lups of ice with a towel and gently tapping them, the newly formed ice should come off in large blocks and you might not need to defrost it,is the food fully defrosted?0 -
thanks hun no foods not defrosted cause ice is keeping it cold but its really badly frozen but i will try thanks0
