Going to get a big chicken today and intend to remove the wings and legs and wishbone so I can roast the crown and freeze the portions for later, is it better to get poultry scissors for this or will a knife be OK? Any thoughts appreciated. TIA.

    Hi richardw,

I use a combination of a knife and a pair of sharp kitchen scissors so I wouldn't bother buying poultry scissors specially unless you think you are going to use them a lot.

    Hi

I've recently started jointing chickens instead of buying portions and I just use a sharp knife - I haven't removed the wishbone before though.

I used this video here to help me first time and I think she just used a knife.

Got the half price chicken from M&S and removed the legs and wings with a knife and roasted the crown, stayed moist and was delicious.
Legs and wings in the freezer for another meal. Will do this again. Thanks for all replies.
