Mortgage while on maternity leave

AS I said, it will depend on the contractrual terms of your maternity pay and the salary your employer is prepared to guarantee on return to work.

We moved when I was on the smp part of my year off for maternity leave. We were told they could not discriminate against me as they had to assume legally I would/could (my contract said so) go back full time. This had to backed up with pay slips however, so we went self cert (had a 25% deposit) so we wouldn't have to show payslips. We weren't borrowing any more, just what we had already. You can do this as long as you are careful you can afford the payments, especially if you change your mind about going back.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early

Hi Bun, I don't quite understand. If they had to assume you could go back full time (prob after looking at the terms of your maternity leave) then showing your payslips shouldn't have been a problem, should it? I presume they wanted payslips to prove your pre-maternity salary? I don't understand why you had to go self-cert.The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0
