  • I got one from 82344 saying new massive top tones uploaded text fun to 82344 to get your tones. service by content merchant help o1172050110 250p month 16+ text stop to stop. then a few secs later another text titled push message and a web link but i never clicked it. Do i have to send stop? Im on contact so i dont know how they can take money as i never agreeded to anything?

yes i got exactly the same as these two texts, i just replied STOP to the first one and hope thats it.
I do not enter very many text comps, usually only the SUNPOST and MIRROR (50p only ones) along with the daily snackajacks and have put my mobile in the strongbow and magners comps, all other comps i use my home phone number.

I didn't post on discussion thread because not everyone reads and this does concern text comps :D

Just an update re: texts received and charged for problem. I left a message on their 01172050110 number yesterday and they have just returned the call, they offered a refund straight away, I didn't have to say a thing, cheque will be with me within 10 days.

    Get ringing :T

I got these messages as well - The first was charged at £2.50, 9p for the web (I clicked off as soon as it started), and it looks as if they charged 10p for the 'Free' stop reply! I wouldn't have clicked on the web one, but it was headed 'Member Content', and I assumed it was from my mobile company, doh! Will know in future. I did do the Smirnoff one, but I know that the same number is used by different companies, like the Strongbow ones, where two comps were running at the same time, but with different messages. I just hope the stop message sees the end of it.

When I rang yesterday it went to answerphone, the message I left was that I had been charged for service not requested and my name and number, then when they rang back this morning, the lady said straight away that she could see I hadn't used the service and that she would send me a cheque for the £2.50, I'm not good on the phone either, I prefer my safety internet lol.

    Good luck
