Hold off pension contributions until I reach higher rate tax bracket?

Definitely for those earning more than £150k.
It's tapered according to how much they earn. Plus with the new 50% tax band those earning between £150k and £160k will still benefit.

there is so much confusion about this . An IFA even wrote an atricle in our local rag last week saying all pension contributions over £30 pa will attract a tax charge- no true if your income is under £150K pa !
For those with "total income" under £150 K its basically business as usual as far as pension contribtions go.
As for the OPs original post it could be the thin edge of the wedge and reliefs that are available now might not be around in the future.0 -
