Hi,
My partner is being made redundant, walking away with aprox £10,000, will she be entitled to claim JSA straight away or will the amount of her redundancy affect this, if so what can she do to mitigate this
thanks
jim

Has she paid NI Conts over the past few years? If so, she will be eligible for JSA for six months. After this time JSA will be income based, which will take into account your income and any capital held by both of you.Gone ... or have I?0

Unless you don't live together. Then it will just be her savings taken into account.:idea:0

Doesn't mean they live together. I am in a partnership too, in that I have 'a partner', but we don't live together.
Why are you trying to be difficult? I checked the OP's posts to gain sufficient information so as to give a definitive answer. Therefore my original answer is correct.Gone ... or have I?0 -
sorry for the confusion yes we do live together, from your info am I right in thinking my partner can claim JSA straight away (she has paid NI all her working life) even though she is getting £10,000 in redundancy, after that they will take into account my salary & our savings
thanks

Yes you are correct, as is the advice dmg gave you.Doesn't mean they live together. I am in a partnership too, in that I have 'a partner', but we don't live together.
Just because you don't live together does not mean you do not have a partner from a "benefits" point of view.
