Lottery syndicate at work

I'm not sure where to put this question but hopefully someone will move it or advise where might be a better place. We have a lottery syndicate at work, there are about 15+ people in it. Around once a year the person responsible changes so that the hassle, collecting money etc isn't just one person's responsibility. It's agreed that that person will make the decisions on which games to play, for example if there's a rollover or going for a different game not just the standard lotto. Anyway it will soon be my turn. I've never bought a lottery ticket in my life so am a bit green about it all but the previous person is going to show me how it works so I'm sure it will be fine. If we make enough we then put it towards a Christmas night out - none of us expects to win the big one - anyway with so many people it wouldn't be life changing if we did. So I was wondering if it would be better to get tickets for some of the smaller games (like daily play etc) as maybe they have better odds for winning smaller amounts but more frequently, than the occasional tenner on the standard lotto.

Can anyone tell me if this is likely to be a better strategy than always going for lotto or euromillions bearing in mind that we aim to get enough for a night out - though of course the biggie would be fantastic too!! I can't seem to find odds for the games listed, just odds for scratchcards.

And yes I know if we put £10 a month away for our night out we'd have enough anyway, but we like living dangerously and winning £30k on daily play would be good too.

Thanks

Eliza

Here's how I run it. We have 7 people but only 6 people play so thats £6 per week.

We do 2 x lotto, 2 x thunderball, 1 hotpicks lucky dip 3 numbers and 1 hotpicks lucky dip 2 numbers

Our staff tend to play and buy their own through the week anyway so we stick to playing on a saturday only.

Odds of winning are shown on the back of the slips you can fill in. I'll try and find them online, if not I can get them from work tomoro.

You could also do a bonus ball lotto. Based on the national lottery's bonus ball, if that number comes out then the person who has chose that number gets the pot (or a cut of if you want to put the rest to the xmas bash). If the number that comes out as the bonus ball is not taken by anyone then it is a rollover and the money goes on to next week until a number is pulled that is assigned to someone. Its not for the same amount of money but would be a constant income for the christmas doo & someone is gauranteed to win at least once a month. It's better if it does roll beacuse for each roll you get more excitment & involvement.
