Credit Checking for a Mortgage

Hi,
I am completely new to this forum and am a little nervous to be posting this new thread.
Basically, I am a debt-free wannabe and am on a DMP with the CCCS. My partner and I are hoping to move house shortly and have found a place we love. Due to my financial situation I will not be on the mortgage, but I am concerned that when the new mortgage company does a credit check, my debts will be brought to light and this may cause my partner trouble in getting the mortgage - can anyone offer any advise? Will my debt go against my partner, even though none of the debt is in his name and he is applying for the new mortgage completely in his own name? Thanks to anyone who can advise.

Not sure on a debt type angle, but we have to move, had always had a joint mortgage, but because we have to relocate and I will not be working initially my husband is going to get the mortgage on his own. We were not asked about me at all, as I will not be contributing to it. If you are not asking to be a joint mortgagee this may well be case with you. They must be used to it as the mortgage calculators often come up better if you are single and not joint applicants.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early0

Hi Bun,
Thanks for your reply. I have been really worried in case my debt causes problems for my partner getting the mortgage, but hopefully everthing will be ok. Thanks again!0
