A radical way to pay off debts

I really have nothing to do at work so I thought I might tell you all this

Two months ago I was racking my brains trying to think of ways that I could make some extra cash, then I saw this advert saying

"SELL YOUR STORY"

I laughed at first thinking what on earth would people want to know about me? However when it said

"EARN UP TO 2k" I thought hmmmm :undecided

A few days later I looked at everything I had done in the last few years good and bad things that have happened and remembered my relationship with a man who turned out to be married! Ah ha! Just the thing for these gossip mags! And the ultimate payback to him for leading both me and his wife along... So (gulp) I contacted them!

For some crazy reason they were interested and offered to have a meeting and discuss everything with me they offered me £500 and I told them yes…thinking of paying off some debts.

I told my friend as well and she had a story to sell, they offered her also £500, hers has been published before mine and since publishing she has been offered money from other magazines, and a daytime TV show. She has literally managed to earn £2k!

So moral of the story….if you can think of something, good or bad that has happened to you, it doesn't even have to be too radical. I'm sure you could also sell your story. The up side is, you might be able to pay a chunk off those debts and walk closer to being debt free. The down side is, you face appears in the magazine and unluckily for the married guy (whose wife confirmed that the story was all true) his face got put there as well! :D
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

    excellent
almost worth doing something radical just to have a story to sell!
i cant think of anything (well nothing that i would want my nan to read!)

but a good idea all the same!
  • Who did you contact, can you remember ?

I like the idea of getting paid for some of the things i have done but I am not sure I'd like everyone else to know these days. I am middle aged mother now !

I do know who I contacted, and I can PM you the details if you like. It was actually a website

The thing is, most of my friends and family dont even bother with those trashy mags so no one really knew about it. It was only when I went to the gym that they started asking me all the questions.

If its something you would rather not anyone to know then I wouldnt bother but mine was portrayed as me being a silly fool and lead along so everyone ended up feeling sorry for me.

    OMG!!!

I spent the 80's working in a Drag Cabaret in SOHO (the only female) - the stories I could tell :-) Especially as I was usually the only sober one in the place

Mind you - the stories are soooooo bizarre that I'd be better off selling them as fiction.

Thanks for cheering up my evening and reminding me that I once HAD A FABULOUS PAST - one my grandkids will think is way cool!!

Brilliant! Do you mind PM me too? I wonder if they would be interested in the fact that I am £50k in debt and my husband didn't know? (you'd cry if you didn't laugh!)
