Removing ex partner from our joint mortgage.

Here goes.
Just split up from my Fiance of 5 yrs.
We want the mortgage to go in my name (his compensation for any equity is (however many years) paying no maintenance for his son).
We have a Northern Rock Joint mortgage.
Will they need to see all my incomings and outgoings and set up a new mortgage or can I get a solicitor to write him out of the contract or will they be able to transfer it to my name easily?
We also took out an IVA each as our debt was bad so im thinking I wont get another mortgage alone until its paid off and even then will be difficult.
If we have to keep it joint for the forseeable future (until the IVA is paid off and I can get a single mortgage) is there any legal way I can prove that I have been paying the mortgage from this date, which I am. Can a solicitor sort this out?
Thanks - any info greatly recieved.

Yeah they need to take out a new mortgage and need to be sure that you can afford the mortgage on your own. What's your salary and the outstanding mortgage? With the IVA it is probably looking unlikely. Can you sell up and downsize?0
