I had mine done last week and Im still not hearing properly...[/QUOTE

I see I`m not alone- unfortunately, like skintbuthappy81, I have to have something more than just oil, as my ears still block, despite using it (or drops from the chemist) regularly. Dread having them done again, though- was wondering what these candles are like- my hearing still hasn`t fully returned, has yours yet, Mrs Ryan? Beginning to think whether it`s ever going to, still don`t know if it`s worth going to see the doctor, but don`t think he can do much now....

i've had problems with excessive ear wax, and my doctor told me that there is nothing worse than syringing your ears, but he did recommend the following.
put a couple of drops of warm olive oil (which you can get from all chemists)in your ears twice a day for 3 weeks. dont put cotton wool in after as this soaks up the oil and then defeats the object, and i got up 10 mins earlier in the mornings so i could stay lay down so the oil ran into my ear and not out.
after the 3 weeks put a couple of drops of sodium bicabonate(again available from all chemists) in the ear for 2 weeks.
the ear wax will soak up the oil and soften and the sodium bicarbonate will dissolve it.
you do loose a bit of hearing for a short time but it wored for me.
my friend also recommended hopi ear candles???

I had my ears syringed twice by the nurse at my doctors surgery years ago, tepid water in what looked like a icing gun, all that i saw in the water was a few flakes of dead skin and my ears felt no better, so i decided to take things into my own hands.

I got a bottle from a home hair dye kit and a jug. I filled the bottle up with tepid water, sprayed it in and when it was empty, filled it up with water that was slightly hotter than before and repeated this for at least 15 times, then i heard what sounded like the sound of when you pop the foil on a coffee jar and a massive black plug of wax fell out into the jug, i couldnt beleive that was in my ear but my hearing was so much better, in fact things seemed to be too loud, not for everyone i admit, but it worked for me
