I don't know why they call it British Home Stores seems everything in the store's is made in China and very little is British. They should change thier name to CHS

    Thanks OP.

I got 2 bath mat sets down to £12 each instead of £40.

We don't have a local store but when we are away for weekend, I go in and look at the home-ware items. They always have lovely items (if a little over priced for some items) and their lighting selection have some stunning fittings for the money.

The clothes sections do always seem a bit of a jumble sale. I think it gives it the feel as though this company may be struggling and is clearing out before they close down! (just my own feeling/opinion!)

Thanks - I managed to grab 3 small 'hand luggage' navy suitcases for just £8 each (online). I really needed these, so this post was much appreciated!

In the Swansea store they had a lot of signs reading
"from £1" and "from £5" but everything was still very high: eg a blouse originally £18 was £14.40

The only items that were cheap(ish) were also damaged or dirty

completely off topic when i was very young the highlight of the week was to go into the bhs restaurant and have fish and chips and if i was very good i was allowed to have a lime coloured drink which came out of one of those drinks machines, there was also orange flavour, and then we coud sit by the frosted glass walls and watch the shadows of the shoppers passing by in the shop outside.

Thanks for this post OP - I got two pillows yesterday for £7.50 reduced from (I think) £25. As I have needed new pillows for a while, this was an amazing buy for me.

The clothes section was scary so I ran away :rotfl:

Opposite Castlepoint in Bournemouth there is a British HOME stores which has no clothing and is quite smart. I got a 2000 spring Relyon king sized bed for £545 -couldn`t find equivalent for under £1200 and a large granite garden table reduced to £220. Phoned up a stonemason for a quote for that size piece of granite and it was over £400.

I have to say that after not going to BhS for some time, a few months ago I thought some of their bracelets etc were really nice.. I also went to a function where a guest was wearing a lovely necklace and earing set, she said that was from BhS...
