Hi,
we will have to start looking for Baby Stuff and plan to make it a day event. Can you please recommend to me some of the better Baby Stores in NI?
I only really know Mothercare, Mamas & Papas & Babys R'us. But I am sure there must also be some decent independent ones. I was told the Mothercare in Lisburn was one of their better Stores in NI. Would that be correct?

Like i posted on another thread, Fultons in Larne are well worth a visit...........What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0

Oh, you want to be coming to the Stork Xchange babyfair in Larne on 8 August. See www.storkxchange.co.uk0

Ikea. So much cheaper than everywhere else and much nicer. Other than that, the Baby Shop (has a couple of branches and the Newtownards road one in Belfast near Connswater is packed with stuff and has lovely staff) is a good bet. Sandra's Nursery corner in North Belfast is pure evil.
Good Luck!

I found the baby shop quite expensive compared to others. If you are coming to Lisburn i can recommend Fredrick Thomas. So far i have bought my cot, pram and baby changing station from there purely because their prices are very good. Smyth Pattersons in Lisburn have a small selection of nursery items i think they have a sale on atm.Norn Iron Club Member No 1050

I personally think indepedant stores up their prices. If it was me I would be looking in the high street stores; ie Mothercare, Toys'r'us & Smyths - what are you looking too purchase? The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0

Thanks for all your comments. We were mostly looking for Prams and Nursery Furniture. In the end we went to 9 baby shops. It seems a lot of them seem to stock the same brands, which are often not the ones we were looking for.
The best of the bunch were by far "Jump for Joy" in Lurgan, where we also found the Pram we liked most. Now we will only have to negotiate on the hefty price tag.
I have to say I was very disappointed with the offering in some of the highstreet shops, as for example Toys R Us only seemed to have very little choice and of that mostly the (in our opinion) terrible Graco stuff. Smyths I generally don't like, and tend not to set a foot in the store. But I did, and went out within a few minutes. IMO they only sold rubbish.
Mothercare has quite a good choice and I generally like the shop. But they didn't have any of the prams we wanted to look at.
Unfortunately we didn't manage to make it to Samuel Johnston, as they seemed to close very early (locked up at 5.10 pm). I had heard they have a good choice.0 -
Whats the place in Banbridge.....department store type place on the corner? Think it's Houstons maybe??
Anyway thats where we got our travel system and some other bits and they were good price as they usually have reductions plus helpful with holding things for us and paying installments etc.0 -
Samual johnston has a good choice but awful customer service. bought my pram from there and love it (still in use and child is 3). But when we had problems customer servcie was awful, unhelpful and a hassle to deal with.0
