limits on mortgage offers from one lender?

We have a tracker mortgage with HSBC and are biding our time before moving back to a fixed-rate mortgage with them, so as to make the most of the current low base rate.
Following articles in the press that fixed rate mortgages were about to start going up, we recently requested offer documents for a fixed rate mortgage from HSBC, as their rate is fixed from the day they send you the offer documents.
However, we are now beyond the date by which we had to return the offer documents to secure our fixed rate mortgage, because the rates haven't gone up as we expected, so we're sticking to our tracker for a little longer.
Are there limits on how often we can request offer documents for a fixed rate mortgage from HSBC? Can we continually receive the documents, watch for whether the rates go up and, if not, stick to our tracker? That way, we're sure to get the best fixed rate they have to offer, but it feels a bit like 'playing the system' in a way they wouldn't condone...

Have you asked them?0

It's a good question! No we haven't. No particularly good reason other than feeling a bit nervous about declaring that what we want to do is try and beat their rate rises!0
