Utilities on SOA question

Hi

Posted an SOA on here a few days ago, currently Electric & Gas bill is £85 per month, was suggested to increase on SOA to £60 each.

Obviously this helps with potential surplus but just wanted to know, is this a standard allowance for fuel bills ?

Dont they ask to see copies of your recent bills at all? Just worried the OR will ask then get found out trying to cheat - would give a very good impression :-(

Thanks for your help

Hi Kew, I think you would be safe to increase it a little because it has been stated that prices may be going up again shortly for gas and elec. But the OR never asked to see my elec/gas bills at all.

Either way however, if your gas & elec prices did go up, then you would notify the OR that you have extra expenses and need to redo your soa to include these.

    Hope this helps a little

Since most or's ask for your bank statements they could check what you normally pay from those (unless you paid quarterly by cash of course)- I suspect they would only check if you had huge bills though!

With the utilities have you had an up to date bill and not estimated? Does the amount you have put down include winter payments as well? As there is going to be a rise in bills it doesn't hurt to pre-empt that a little.

There is a table of allowable expenses on the insolvency service website at this link
    insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls
gas/elec is about £75pm for a family. I should point out that this is slightly out of date but the new one if about £85pm
