Hi all,
I am thinking of getting a maxi dress to take on holiday but the problem I am having is that I am a curvy size 14 with big boobs and when I look at dresses on line the boob bit looks so small I dont think I would squeeze half a bap in it!
Anyone else with this 'problem' recommend a flattering brand please with enought bappage room!
thanks.

Just seen your bra/bikini post! Exactly the same problem here with most maxi dresses being shaped at the top.
In fact there are loads of tops and dresses around this year with this shaping at the top. I did start trying on bigger sizes even an 18 doesn't fit round the boobs and is too big elsewhere, cos I think the back width is bigger, but the top of the dress still only made to fit the eqivalent of a C cup:mad: I just completely discount these styles now, cos it's a waste of time!
I'm a 34F and would've loved a maxi dress for this summer, but wouldn't really have wanted to pay a lot for it and eventually time ran out for looking for one before my hols, so if anyone can find a style suitable, I'd be interested too!!:j
EDIT to say....not going for one-up womanship but 34FF, just got into my dressing gown and checked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Snap! I am a 34f too and these shaped boob bits just don't really take into account the shape of most women's boobs!
If its any help I have got maxi dresses with these bits on them and I just wear a strappy vest underneath to prevent any escapages! Or I got a lovely one from Ebay which has like a normal, vest shaped top bit so it fits my boobs lovely and I don't need to wear a vest.0 -
Not cheap but Bravissimo do great clothes for us blessed in the bap department. Haven't noticed a maxi though. (also great for bikinis -the only one I have been able to wear without poking someone's eye out!)
I've found much better fitting clothes in places like Principles as they don't seem to be after the teen market."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0 -
Oh! I can't tell you how pleased I was with the bikini I bought from Bravissimo this summer

It fits so beautifully, I would honestly have practically paid anything for it!
I had a Panache one from there last year

Sorry to go off topic , Squirrelchops. Nice to talk to girls who 'understand'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I bought a couple of maxi dresses from fashionworld last year, as they are designed to go up to bigger sizes they had a ruched elasticated back which gave loads of bap room (36G here!!)
Also saw a couple reduced on Principles on line that might work.
correction..... I think it was wallis not principles.0 -
I ordered this as i'm a large 14 to small 16 thinking buy the next sixe up....but when it came it was too big....its stunning but sold out in a 14

however look on Ebay a brief search has brought it up, look harder and you may find cheaper....really lovely quality so even at that price is worth it

hope this helpsNever put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -
Oh! Well done!:T It looks lovely!! I would wear that! Seems to be just 8's and 10's left now though at Littlewoods.
I would have to try on though, couldn't risk buying without the "return " option at that price!0 -
That dress is nice. the top is more 'sturdy than some of the other flimsy vest top type maxi dresses so would be better for the bap coverage.
The other 'problem' I have is that the chest area above my baps ie under armpits too is actually quite a bit smaller in circumfrance(sp) so I not only get the tight fit on boobs but gaing on stomach i get the gaping at the top too!!! Oh darn you cursed big boobs!!!!
It makes me wonder why slim women want to go and have surgery for massive boobs...dont they realise the clothes problems it causes. Mind you they can wear bloody maxi dresses or the like as their boobs dont need scaffolding to support them!!! LOL0 -
Beccam......do you reckon then that if i went for my regular size 14 on a maxi dress from fashion world I should be ok as I have seen one I quite like?
Thanks0 -
I purchased a dress very similar to this in a shop in Southport for £22:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BANDEAU-STRAPLESS-STRETCH-floral-maxi-prom-DRESS-14_W0QQitemZ330344662843QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWomen_s_Clothing?hash=item4cea13873b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1683|293%3A1|294%3A50
The make is Stella, but typing it into google is hopeless because Stella Mac comes up.
Unfortunately I'm blessed with 34G "baps", but this dress does the job and holds everything in place.
I also bought a Panache strapless bra in Debenhams reduced to £12, and after starting with 36ff, 34ff,34f etc  I eventually ended up in a 32G aftering 2 assistants decided it fitted - and it does. You could get away with wearing the strapless bra underneath the dress.
The dress is also polyester so is suitable for travelling. It certainly won't crease.0
