I'm glad I could be of some help. Of course a house makes things a lot more complicated than for me but I hope that whatever decision you make, things go smoothly for you!Declared Bankrupt: 3rd July 2009

Hiya Eveningstar
Thanks for sharing your tale, made me feel a bit less hassled about the whole process.
Just one thing, and it may not apply, but you said you felt you'd been reckless, and you sympathised with the other people who had to go BR due to other circumstances. Don't judge yourself harshly, we all go our own road to BR and we learn so much from the process. I'm goin gBR due to my business going under, and I certainly don't feel any animosity or anything negative to anyone gong BR due to being financially "reckless". Well done for getting everything sorted out, and all the luck in the world for your new financial start. Good luck withthe job hunting!

Hi Lizz,
Thank you for what you said. I do judge myself harshly but if I don't do so, I'm scared of falling back into my old ways. I am looking forward to starting back from zero and never making the same mistakes again. Thank you for your good wishes and I wish you the best of luck for your BR too! :TDeclared Bankrupt: 3rd July 2009

I had letter about 2 weeks agao and bankruptcy has had no impact on me either though i am now debt free and will be rest of life.
With regards to early discharge its is not gauranteed . The OR will only process if they have time so when times are busy its at the bottom of the in tray
Good Luck0 -
Thank you very much. I guess I'll just have to hope and pray that the OR is not too busy these days!Declared Bankrupt: 3rd July 2009

Hi evenigstar201, I am a debt counsellor and it's sometimes hard to convince a client that bankruptcy is their best option, I always suggest that my clients read the boards on MSE.
What a fabulous account of your experiences. There are many people out there who are worried sick about the BR process. Well done you. I think that newcomers reading your piece will be completely re assured!0 -
hi eveningstar
thank you so much for sharing your experience! try not to judge yourself so harshly, we certainly don't!
i have my day in court next month, booked it today!
i found it interesting to hear what the judge said, and the or.
i hope that you are happier nowadays, and what lovely parents you have!!
take care x0 -
Hi Eveningstar!
I'm so glad I came across your piece here because I know I need to become bankrupt and the whole process scared me a bit. I can honestly say that now, I actually feel able to go back to the CAB to talk through my petition.
My situation is similar to yours with regards to no income (JSA and child tax credit only), no job at the moment, (made redundant several months ago), no assets but hugh debt from credit cards. Could you possibly tell me from when you first had the appointment with the OC or whoever (sorry not sure who you see first), and filling in the SOA, from that date how long was it until your date to see the judge when you became bankrupt?
Thanks
