Tahini!

I have a whole jar of dark tahini that needs using by the end of the month, and was wondering if anyone has any exciting recipies! I have a whole pack of dried chickpeas, so could make a huuuge bowl of houmous, if it would freeze ok? But I would love some other ideas if you lovely peeps have any!

This thread may help. I don't think you can beat a nice bowl of garlicky, rough houmous with a good splat of lemon juice and some warm crusty bread :D
  • I've always frozen houmous with no problems. Mmmm, yummy!!!

Smear some toast with tahini then add slices of banana on top for a healthy breakfast.

When I first heard this recipe I thought it wouldn't taste that good but try it...it's yummy!

You could also use the tahini and chick peas to make falafel.

I've never worried about the use by date on tahini... I suspect that I have some in my fridge which is several years out of date, but it still works fine for houmus!

I had no idea that's what falafel was made of

Hmmm, I use tahini instead of butter on toast - with a smear of jam on top it is sublime. Also drizzled over a salad, stir fry or noodle dish is yummmmmy. Hell, I have been known to eat it from the jar :o

I made some falafel today , didnt put the tahini in the falafel , but tahini often mixed with yoghurt & lemon juice as a dip/dressing for them
  • Thanks guys for some great ideas! I probably wouldn't be bothered about the date, but I have another jar to follow!

Will definitely try it on toast, and I had forgotten all about tahini dressing! Thank you!

Tahini-Yogurt dip with fresh nutmeg. Nice with all sorts of veg, or bread.

Would also not chuck out straight at the date..
