    You have to dry it well before you cut it and ideally cook it without water. Shallow fry with onions and tomatoes is simple and tasty way of cooking, but add the tomatoes towards the end.

    The lemon juice (or yoghurt) at the end helps to 'cut' the stickiness.
    I don't have a problem with okra now but hated it as a child! I will happily eat it now and DD1 LOVES it! (she is 7!)
    My sis hates cooked onions - she thinks that they are slimy! She also hates creme caramel - home made or shop! and custard tarts! But she likes okra too!

    Okra is the base for soups in the US and is what its is mainly grown for out there something to do with it gooey texture. I've never tried it myself but I would guess it helps with thickening.
