We're in our late 20s and have been saving carefully for about 8 years. We have lived well, but without unecessary (imo) luxuries.
That's given us 15% of the house we wanted :D (completed on Friday)

On top of that, I got some early inheritance from my mother & my OH got gifted the remainder his "university fund" that his parents had sent up for him at birth (uni turned out cheaper than expected) .... so we upped the deposit to qualify for better mortgage offers ...

My partner and I saved 20% by very hard work and saving like our lives depended on it. Feels good now that the house is going through OK *touchwood*

We spent two years saving, resulted in £26k total for our house purchase, £19k for the deposit, the rest for furniture, decorating etc. We had nothing, as were living with my partners parents, so quickly burnt our way through the extra we had to buy the usual bits and bobs.

I have saved £30k and plan to carry on saving until I find somewhere. Ideally I want to hit 25% LTV but currently just under 20% (purchase price of 170k).

All funded entirely by me, without help from my parents. I'm currently saving about £1200 per month.
