£5 a week payment

I have finally had a letter from the csa, stating that ex will be paying £5 a week from 3 months ago, as he is now on benefit.
I am wondering, just curious really, as obviously £5 a week doesnt go far with two children - the change in circs has been dated from 3 months back. I am assuming that he will only pay 1 lot of £5 per week? What happens to the £5 per week from the backdated date to todays date? (did that make sense - i was getting a little confused!)

I must admit I don't understand your question.
It sounds like he will pay £5 for 13 weeks (assuming 13 weeks is 3 months). I think that comes to £65.0 -

yes, sorry reading it back it doesnt make much sense:o My youngest was climbing all over me as i was trying to post it.
I'll try again, if ex has been assessed as paying £5 per week, from 15th April - obviously by the time the csa start collecting his money there will be a gap between the 15th april and whenever they start collecting. Say i receive my first payment on the 1st August, what happens to the monies owed from the 15th April to 1st August?0 -
I would agree, you are owed £65.000

so does that role on to when/if he gets another job? I imagine they cant take the £65 off him in one go, as that is what he gets to live on for the week

He already has arrears from him not paying when he was working, so do these add on to those? I always gets flustered when on the phone with them, and never seem to get the same answer twice!0 -
Hi
If he's on benefit they can deduct a further £1 per week towards the arrears. They don't automatically do this so you will need to ask them to do it.0 -
I am in the same boat really, i have 2 children by ex and have for the last 4 years been recieving £10 a fortnight they class it as £5 a week but u get it a fortnight my ex has arrears but does not pay any off that my children r 12 and 14 and my 14 year old suffers aspergers my ex has had no contact with my eldest for 3 years it was my childs decision as ex is a bully to him favouring 12 year old. csa have told me that his non contact with 14 year old will be taken into account with more arrears but i wont see that till he decides to return to work (yeah right that'll happen). my ex is on incapacity benefit and has re married had another child and stays at home while his wife works full time so has no reason to go back to work.0

Hello,
I find myself in the same position, and have recently posted a question regarding arrears.
I was advised they would recover the arrears when the NRP started work.
After 15 years claiming Incapacity, I think it is highly unlikely.
Remembering I had read on this forum about the arrears being collected at £1 per week on top of the £5, I asked about this.
Was told that not all benefit departments can collect this, so I am awaiting their response.
I have asked for advice from the forum, to see what others in the know think.
Regards

It depends on whether he has any other deductions from his benefit, such as overpayments or repayment of any social fund loans etc.0
