Sudden Laundry Problems

Yesterday i did a load of washing exactly the same as normal -
Did not over fill the drum but had quite a lot in
Used normal 40 degree(thats the lowest our machine does) economy wash
using the following in the same quantities as usual
Tescos own brand value washing powder
soda crystals
Oxy wash powder for stains and fabric conditioner
The washing was hung up as normal but I noticed that this time it came out with a musty type smell.
I am at a loss as to what issue might be causing this.
Can anyone help? I hope this does not mean that the washing machine is broken in some way as my flatmate who owns it is in severe financial trouble at the mo and cannot afford a new one.
Thanks.

Thanks Pink. It's never been an issue in the 10 yrs plus I have been living here but admit over the last yr i started to use soda crystals and maybe that is the issue. Also some of the clothes were old and being washed before charity shop. I just ran some more through and luckily this lot seems to be stinking just fine:)
We dont use the drawers but a ball inside the wash with everything in that and that has always worked just fine before. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0
