Hi all,
I am going B (changing my mind a million times)
The reason for my B is for several reasons, mainly change in circumstances and health.
The spending was due to 50% living costs and 50% are because i spent beyond my means in the hope and vain that i would be able to to pay it back.
Most of the credit cards i have paid of but 1 shows me spending in shops and taking a recent holiday- it was a holiday i had booked for my 30th.
I am worried that i will be liable for a BRO and really dont want this as i have really tried to pay of most of my credits cards for spending that I shouldnt have done. I do feel guilty and hae changed my ways in my spending habits.
Can anyone share a similar experience and tell me if they were given mercy.
I am not asking to be let off lightly i just dont want this to blight the rest of my life and am scared that I will never be able to get married or have kids because if the financial restraints.

Hi Broke..,
I can't give any personal experience but have heard of others writing things in their BR application such as 'I expected to find work more quickly but due to the economic downturn I haven't been able to find any'. Not sure this would apply to you or even whether the OR would consider it a valid reason but it may promote some discussion and help get you an answer to your question.
I am also interested as I've been out of work since end 2007 and spent on my CC too. As you said, it's a cross we will have to bear, but would be nice to have a heads-up on the general thinking.

Thanks Dack.
Hopefully we can some others sharing their experience here soon.0 -
hi personally we could all say we have spent money on cc that we regret an when we look back through our statements prior to giving them to the receiver,it is a shock why did i pay on that card for a meal at resteraunt, why did i buy that shirt i never wear cinema tickets e.t.c but at the time we thought we were not insolvent.but we all wont do it again,i think how i look at it no matter what has been spent on our cc the receiver has seen it all.it is good to know we all worry about the same type of things.just one reply im sure there will be many more regards col0

also to add to this ihave looked up on the b.r.o.b.r.u. link,an it seems one of the criteria for getting one is if you have spent on cc when already entered into an i.v.a. or a debt plan management.this would be worse but someone will correct me if this is wrong.also we all have to look at it this way if no one spent on cc e.t.c when they really should not have,we would not be here.so everyone here or most of us here will be thinking the same thing.as i said the o.r.has seen it all0

i think bro/brus are given for unfit conduct such as gambling a big percentege incurred in the bankruptcy debt and selling an assett before going BR and pocketing the money, transfer of an assett within 5 yrs previous to going BR is also frowned upon as is paying money to a member of your family preference over other creditors although i know what i would do in that situation and the cash wouldnt be going the banks way bless em. Here i will confess for the first time and await the DT beaters:rolleyes:.
I went away on holiday end of june 2007(paid with card in march), i also had booked cheap flight only's for myself and 5 workmates(i paid and booked it with my card, they paid me back)in july 07 to go in jan 2008. I went bc nove 07. I was totally honest with the OR explained my circumstances leading to my bc and he was fine. He did query the flights until i told him they were non refundable. Then said"i never heard that;)".
So they are human and i think they can tell the ssip takers from the genuine. So just be honest, that way nothing comes back to bite you on the bum and you do not loose sleep worrying about what happens if they find out about something you failed to tell them about.
