Can anyone tell me what we are in now, deflation or inflation?

I am talking aboutthe big picture, and whats it looking like for next year?

The UK has a very mild case of inflation - the price level is rising slowly overall, albeit at a slowing rate (as measured by CPI/RPIX). The RPI shows a -ve number but that isn't deflation as it is showing the one-off impact of cutting interest rates.

Deflation is the persistant tendancy for prices to fall. Inflation is the persistant tendancy for prices to rise. Persistant is the key word,

Depends on what is causing the inflation, surely?

Unless you mean, 3-4% would be better than 10-15% :p

Pretty much, yes. I'm old enough to remember not only the early 90s but the 70s as well. 3-4% I'd settle for quite happily.
