Tesco card advice needed

Mods, if this is in the wrong place can you move it please? (Sorry)

I’m about to pay the balance of my holiday which is around £4500. There’s a 2% surcharge for credit cards but I’d be using a Tesco clubcard credit card.
So, with the extra points, is it better to pay by the Tesco card and pay the surcharge or pay by cheque without the surcharge? I know you get some sort of insurance with the credit card but what sort of thing would it cover? The holiday isn’t for another three months.
Thanks for any advice

Does depend how long you have had the card

some pay 1 pt per £2 others 1pt per £4

So the former is worth 0.5% in store, 1% on the double offers, or upto 2% on the deals ( that said when valuing deals I generally use max x3 as other conditions/ lack of using other discounts .. so for me the spending is worth say 1.5% )

With the benefits that using a card brings ( in interest free period & failure cover) I am usually tempted to use it in these cases

    BUT
    Half figures for newer cards

Do you have 2 threads going with the same question.

You will not get any insurance by paying with your credit card. This only applies if you are paying directly for your flight or directly to your hotel.
it does not apply if you pay a third party. ie travel agent.

Pay by cheque and save your 2% ie around £90. Would your club card points be more than this. I wouldnt have said so.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

McKneff raise the point that you may not get sect 75 coverage .. this seems a valid point if using an agent- although if buying a holiday from tour operator direct it seems the sect 75 credit card protection would apply
