Eurotunnel Day trip return without returning

Hi, Im driving to Spain at the end of August and have been looking at getting the Eurotunnel over for quickness. Prices seem quite high at the moment so was wondering if this would work (my tesco clubcard vouchers aren't due until Aug so unlikely were be able to use these in time :-()
Now, if you return on either the same day or next then it's a lot cheaper... Do you think its possible to somehow book a return but just not return??? Ideally if I could book 2 returns... one for when I go (and just do the outward trip) and another return for when I go back (and just use the return bit) - It would work out cheaper but just not sure if its something that I could get away with.
thanks

  • Sorry but the Dover Calais ferries and Eurotunnel have become wise to this and will charge your credit card with the difference between a day trip ticket and a full single fare.

Don't know how true it is, but I'm lead to believe if you do this pay by cash, as if you pay by c/c or debit card and the return leg of your ticket isn't used they bill your card, (as said it could be a urban myth!!!!!!!)
ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.

Do Eurotunnel even accept cash these days? I was led to believe that you had to use a debit/credit card as the 'toll booths' upon entry are now fully automated.

Certainly Eurotunnel could quite easily flag your registration up as someone who has abused the system and thus return transit would be denied - unless the correct fare was paid.

Don't know, thinking on, could you go out on the tube and return on a ferry???? if you could pay by cash

A guy I was speaking to on a campsite in France last month assured me he has done this many times, he works in Belgium and has not been charged by Eurotunnel.

I have not done it myself though.

Tunnel is 35 mins i think, LD Lines is 1hour and you get a little further south to Boulogne on the other side. The tunnel starts further north in the UK though.

Apparently they were sharing information between themselves to prevent this.
