Paying arangement fee twice!

Sorted out mortgage for house 1. Paid £200 arrangement fee, valuation fee paid, £250 completion fee would have been paid on completion.
Mortgage offer made so salary/ personal checks done/ valuation done etc
Gazumped on house 1, now looking at house 2.
Mortgage company wants us to pay again for the arrangement fee. This is for the same mortgage, same deal exactly. I understand we need to pay the valuation fee again. But they don't need to do any futher salary / personal checks! The last mortgage was agreed less than 3 months ago, nothing has changed - they are even giving us the same mortgage deal & amount, why do we need to pay twice?

Personally don't think you should have to. Fair enough a new valuation has to be paid for but everything else is the same = profiteering, now what was the OFT saying last week about credit card charges/ which they also lumped in other Bank/lender charges?
Name & shame the Coventry, I say!! Better still write to their customer service dept and explain the blatent unfairness of what they're doing and tell them if they persist you'd like a deadlock letter as you intend to complain to the FOS. Be prepared to write at least twice as most seem to have a computerised first response letter.
Perhaps some of knowledgeable brokers friends can think of some justification, personally I think it sucks particularly as they should be aware it will have cost you significant money [not to mention stress & heartache] to lose the first property.

I reorganised/changed my mortgage 4 times due to losing houses and buyer and each time I got the original mortgage fee refunded and charged for the current one and each time it was a different mortgage type as well.
No questions no hassle. Can't you call and ask to speak to someone and put this to them.
If not I would definately take it further?
