Is this a scam? Axa policy surrender value
wayto
I have a letter from Axa saying I have a policy that lapsed in 1990 that has a surrender value, they are asking me to fill in my bank details to repay. I was under 18 in 1990!
The Axa number given is 02476 235036, there is no answer machine which I find weird as other Axa numbers have out of hours answer machine. The department is referenced as LEB Department/TLP.
What should I do? I'd like the money if its mine but dont want to give away my bank details and signature if not!
Thanks for your help

we've reciently received letters via DWP from Axa, about policies we had a long time ago, we have moved twice since. This was not the phone number I was given, PM me will give you the number and you can check with them. I will not be handing over any bank details I will expect any monies due to be sent in cheque form.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I would just like to inform everyone that I received one of these letters from axa & like yourselfs was a bit concerned, even more so when i read these comments but I called the telephone number given on the letter & found that actually it is lagit & they gave me all the information about the policy I had & it was correct. I today have recived a chq for £137.50 which I would not have received unless I called them & verfified it. I would suggest that anyone having doubts do the same & call the telephone number on the letter.0
