Has anyone dealt with the Clydesdale bank for a mortgage or know their general criteria?
I am a FTB and looking into a new build flat..
Also does anyone know that if I go into to see an advisor about a mortgage can I let them know that I am looking to pay off certain credit commitments prior to the mortgage being processed and make this a condition of the mortgage offer in order to improve my chances of getting the right deal..
thanks guys..

if you are going to repay commitments prior to completion of the mortgage then this will be highlighted in the application so don't worry about that too much. A quick phone call to 0845 602 5450 will tell you if they will lend on the newbuild flat or not. All the best with it.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0

many thanks for that.
I was a bit unsure about the credit commitments just I would like to reserve the property & check on mortgage but my out-goings are a little high but as the new build will not be ready for around 6mths I am able to pay off a chunk of this in the meantime which hopefully will make the mortgage more favourable.
thanks again.0 -
from memory the application will ask what accounts you have outstanding and if each account will remain on completion. You would need to work out which one's will be gone by the time completion comes around and answer accordingly.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0

thanks again, do you know how strict they are on credit status?0

pretty strict, part of National Australia Group like the Yorkshire Bank so they won't entertain defaults, ccj's, rent arrears etc but the odd late payment on insecured debt should only affect a marginal application anyway (high income miultiples, high loan to value, short time in job etc etc).
if you're really unsure seeking some decent professional advice could be a good option.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0
