Post Office Mortgage - Anyone got one or has experience?

I've just had an offer of £242500 accepted on a house.

We are first time buyers with a 120k deposit and we are looking for a 5yr fix.

The post office seem to have the best deal at 4.45%

The only thing that concerns me is that you have to apply either online or by phone. For something so important you would think that a face to face meeting was necessary?

I have an approved AIP from them online but would rather complete the application by phone - do you think that is good idea?

We remortgaged with them a couple of months back with a 5 year fix.Very impressed with how quickly and smoothly it went.

Just signed up on a 5 year fix, all signed sealed etc within 10 days for us as first time buyers.

Couldn't have been simpler, and customer service was first rate.

Highly recommended by my partner and I.

I started an application session before midnight, completed it after midnight and got an error (I assumed the credit check system was down), then got the AIP approved this morning. Then I got a phone call saying the product was withdrawn, however they are posting me the forms to re-apply but I need to send them back by Friday. I didn't ask, but I assume this means to progress to a full application, which I can't do since I haven't found a property yet :(
