UK's Darling confident of return to growth in 2009

13:52 13Jul09-UK's Darling confident of return to growth in 2009

LONDON, July 13 - Britain should return to growth in 2009, although the fate of the global economy remains uncertain, British finance minister Alistair Darling said on Monday.

"I remain confident that our economy will see growth return at the end of the year," Darling told reporters after meeting U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in London. "But there is a lot of uncertainty in the world and part of the G20 process will be in dealing with that.

"We are making progress, we are coming through.

Yer, he told us there would be one, then Brown told him off, and he had to then tell us there wasn't going to be one.

To be fair to this bloke, without Brown, I think Darling would be quite a good chancellor.

That's not what the IMF is saying, or anyone else for that matter. Utterly deluded. Of course, when it doesnt happen they can always blame swine flu.:eek::eek:

I think you're right. Broon still thinks he's chancellor. As if the useless fool didn't do enough damage when he actually held the post.

Bit oblique... but I am confident of winning the lottery, living to a 110, scoring with a twenty year old, winning Britains got Talent by dropping my trousers and playing the ukele, and captaining England in the 2020 Ashes.

To be fair, that's by far the most likely. Even probable.

We only need one quarter at 0.1% to 'return to growth' - wouldn't surprise me (2009 could be a similar pattern to 2010 and 2011 though...)

It became clear ages ago what Labour is all about - tell 'their' people what they want to hear. They will believe us.
