Hi
In my rather harassed state I have just added Risotto rice instead of Pearl Barley to my pan of soup!!!
In it I have
Onions
Garlic
Courgette
Leeks
Potato
Chicken Stock
Was hoping to make Courgette Leek & Potato soup. I now realise it will not be soup so any suggestions so that I don't make a rather bland risotto!
I have cooked chicken and chorizo sausage at home as well as loads of dried herbs and a few pots of fresh in the garden including thyme and chives.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated in the next ten mins or so as this is supposed to be lunch!
Thanks
Jo

I would put some thyme in it and some cheese if you have any. Just make sure it is well seasoned and I am sure it will be delicious0

I'd carry on as planned.I don't see why it won't be soup if you add enough liquid. I use barley to make risotto as it is so much cheaper and often home-grown (meaning UK-not my garden lol!).0

There is a greek soup made of chicken stock lemon and leftover (as in pre-cooked) rice, its delicious! Ive also used rice to bulk out soup, and you can always blend it when its done if you dont like the texture. I wouldnt worry, although I know the price of risotto rice! I hope your mistake doesnt work out too costly.Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0

Thanks for all the replies. I kind of made it up as I went along. It was more like a risotto in the end than a soup and I had some medium strength semi hard goats cheese in the fridge that we brought back from our holiday in France so I sprinkled that on the top and it made a difference. I hadn't thought of cheese at all and was quite surprised at what a difference it did make. I could have done with a different flavour to add to it though to give it a bit of a bite but other than that it wasn't too bad as far as mistakes go..
Thanks for all your replies and if you have any ideas for future "mistakes" I would appreciate it!0
