No offence, but if this was similar to the Sony Bean player that my brother bought at Christmas then you might be slightly disappointed.

When it says MP3 / ATRAC player, that means that it doesn't play MP3s if you drag and drop them over. You have to convert every MP3 to a 'SONY FORMAT' (ATRAC) so they can control what you do with the player.

Hence I don't know how they can call this an MP3 player as it is not. It is an ATRAC player.

This is my experience of the bean player, which is probably very similar to this.

PS - You also have to live with that awful awful software called sonicstage which is the most instable and buggiest software i've ever had to install on my computer.

Avoid all Sony products for sanity reasons. Too much bother. Trying to tie you to their systems and nobody elses.

Yep you are right. Sonicstage software is a pain in the backside. The songs take absolutely ages to transfer from the computer to the player. Companies which use drag-and drop are better. Something like a creative muvo would be better in my opinion!

Lol! That's exactly what my brother got when he replaced his Sony Bean player.

  • Hi, just to add my agreement that though Sony systems are wonderfully attractive and full of features such as the excellent battery life, the software is absolutely awful.

I got so fed up of the hassle of loading songs onto my Sony mp3 player that I ended up selling it and buying a Samsung from Amazon.
