Hello Everyone
It's my daughter's 13th in two weeks time and usually she holds a party in the dance studio where we go every week and invites lots of people, (great, cos there's no clearing up for me to do! lol)
However, this year she wants to invite some people to a party at the house in the afternoon and then have three close friends to sleepover.
This is all very well, but it's been ages since I organised anything like this and I'd like some ideas, cheap and cheerful please, for both food, drink and entertainment?? There's probably going to be around 30 at the afternoon party??
Thanks for any suggestions!
Sal

Id say the same as others really. Cheap pizza/nibbley bits & then a spa/movie night depending on what your daughter likes. Asda's Smart price margerita pizza's taste fab in my opinion (with a little extra cheese grated on top) and are only 70p ish. These could also have toppings added by guests or customised by your daughter.
Value crisps, pop, chocolate and sweets will all go down just as well as branded products will AS LONG AS THEY ARE OUT OF THE PACKET! kids of this age tend to be all about brands and labels and depending on your daughters friends this could cause some problems!
Spa/movie night - Maybe buy one new movie that they all want to see and then reuse older movies that you already have. Some microwave popcorn is great fun, tidy and really cheap (about £1.30 for 3 huge packs i think). Then the masks usually cost about 99p each, maybe some cheap nailvarnish (again asda do a smart price range of these that are about £1 each - guess where i shop!) and then just let the girls have fun
If you have a relative who is good at makeup and happy to help then how about a make up session?

You should tyr primark for spa things the new range of stuff
sum examples of what u can get
2 nail varnishs for £1
2 tubs of body butter for £1
fake tan for £1
make up sets £1
idea you could make up ur daugther and the 3 VIPS spa gift bags containg
body butter
make up
fake tan
nail varnish
and a bracelt etc to keep would work out at about £4 each
make her a special new cd for her party cd
no games that will be embarsasing id say
maybe get some magazine to read - mite be a tad expensive unless you can ask around a few freinds if they are finshed with there etc ok ,heat
also for food to pizza, breadsticks n dip, popcorn, pic n mix some of that small forzen party food packs , chicken satays, mini cheescakes- all things they wouldnt usually eat that are a novalty
drinks you could make them milkshakes, ice cream floats, non alchloc coktails
moveies id rent new ones as if they have seen them b4 they wont be so interested - none scary id advise
i cant wait for my daughter to be in to all this n throw her great partys"Lifes a climb - but the view up in fantastic"

Try talking to her about what kind of things she has in mind, I'm sure she'd have a lot of suggestions to do with entertainment and the like. Obviously get a CD sorted with her and her friend's favourite music, maybe a Twister mat. I know that we have Twister at our uni parties, but it might not be seen as 'cool' by teenagers?
As for food and drink, just go for nibbles, mini pizzas, bowls of crisps and popcorn, mini sausage rolls etc, along with a few bowls of smarties or haribo. Can't really go wrong! Non alcoholic cocktails/punch served in glasses with cherries on a stick/ sparkly swizzle sticks? Is 13 too old for party favours/bags?

Thanks everyone
Some fab ideas here! I love the idea of the spa products, and hiring a DVD for the VIP guests later on.
I had thought about getting some fancy cocktail glasses and perhaps making a punch - has anyone seen any plastic cocktail glasses etc anywhere?
Thanks for everyone's recommendations and where to buy the stuff from, it's all much appreciated!
Hi Claire, I wondered too, if 13 was too old for party bags, but perhaps if I can find those things in Primark, it may not be too bad to use those things?
Hi Shellnapier - you're more than welcome to come along to mine on 25th July - LOL
LOL - at the non scary movie idea.

I know my local Morrisons has a pack of 10 plastic champagne glasses for quite cheap, would they do the job? Maybe party bags would be better if you called them Pamper Packs or something to make them cooler, and put more 'grown up' things in, like some sweeties, a few beauty things and some funky stationary? The pound shop or Wilkinsons would be good place to look, you can get multipacks of fluffy pens/cute pencils and things for a quid, and probably packs of nail varnishes to split up? Do a small bag for the day guests, and then a bigger one for the three nightime guests with slightly better/more stuff in?

what about making them VIP passes.......they could even be for the invitations0

I saw packs with about 10/12 different Rimmel nail varnishes at my local TK Maxx yesterday. For the life of me I couldnt tell you how much it was, but might be worth a look for spa bit and bobs too. Mine has a whole big rack/shelf thing with reduced to clear beauty stuff on it and you get some right bargains. Its usually cos the boxes are a bit bashed, but might be suitable for young lasses who might be a bit more label concious! (I know I was in my teens, until I started having to pay for stuff all on my own, changed my views pdq!!!)0

ooh and are any of your friends consultants for Vie at Home, or Body Shop? they might come and do a wee spa night for the girls, without the 'sales' bit, or lend you their kit?0

Thanks ladies,
Some more wonderful ideas, you're all great at suggesting this kind of thing, wish I had your creative streaks! lol
I'll pop into Morrisons, really like the idea of the fancy plastic glasses - just to make them feel that wee bit more grown up!
