Fee for Certificate of Discharge (from Bankruptcy, nothing medical...)

I would try winging it without a certificate first and seeing how far you get, you may not need anything at all. As soon as you hit a problem, try phoning your old OR and say you can't really afford any extra costs for a certificate right now, would they mind writing you a letter on headed paper confirming your discharge? Many OR's will do this free.
I'd only be getting the certificate (unless it was free from the start) after trying both of these as the bare minimum. You're right, you don't need the hassle. Equally it's not a huge effort for a few more quid in your pocket either, so you have to weigh it up what works for you.0 -
I agree CitySlicker but since I'm on income-based JSA (for only the second spell in forty years - oops, my old-fashioned values/prejudices are showing!) I may as well make enquiries and see if I can get one for "free".
It's far from a magic bullet, I know but if I don't do it now then Sod's Law says the fee will have increased when I find I could use one...At the end of every rainbow is a smug meteorologist with a large prism.0 -
Fermi (or anyone else that went BR in the High Court in London), question on this - do you have to pay the £60 if you went BR in the High Court in London, as the £150 wasn't charged for me when I went BR there, despite not being in one of the exempt categories - they just didn't charge it. Or was this a mistake?
Many thanks in advance

There was a certainly period a while back during which they were not charging the fee to anyone at the RCJ.
If they charged you, then they must have changed policy now.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
