i used to have a carer who came to clean for one hour a fortnight, this went arm in arm with me doing what i could as i passed it due to limited mobilty. i have been known to trow bundle of wet ones on floor and shimmy around room on crutches using my slippers to waddle about cleaning as i went. now i know this is not a great method but it shows how desperate i was to clean the floor. the only other method of cleaning i had was to drop hints that went unheard or the nag one of my kids as they passed my room to do something. my carer is not coming anymore, long story involving council, cutbacks and contributions from what little cash i have. hoping am building a good story here of how desperate i now am to try and get organised before we disappear under the chaos. so i want to set up a rota, bless her my mum who is 72 has already said i can put her down for washing downstairs floors. i have a 22 yr old dd who stays here one week then her dads one week so gets away with doing nothing as she says if you tell me what to do i will do it, but that system doesnt work. the there is my 18 yr old ds he does quite alot already and since husband left last october does all the cooking, washing and running around shops etc. then there is me!!! well i am pretty useless as already shown. i can manage to wash out sinks, clean toilet but as said limited mobility means can only do a little. well back to the beginning to whoever has not yet dropped off off boredome what i am hoping is that someone out there who has couple of grown up kids and single mum mainly in wheelchair maybe has a houeshold rota i can sneak a glimpse at that may help me draw up something with the limited resources i have but will at least keep most rooms liveable!! hope i am not asking too much but am desperate to get this place running properly again. since husband leaving 8 months ago we just seem to have been rubbing along, dealing with something only when it is at desperate stage. cananyone out there help????

Hi & I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. I can't offer much practical advice I'm afraid but have you looked at the Weekly FlyLady Thread? It's broken down into levels and I'm thinking that if you can maybe get your DS & DD (when she's with you) to help you may achieve level 1 on some days which would be better than nothing IYSWIM?
It is a busy thread but everyone there is so supportive & helpful & I know that there are people of all abilities on there. Hope this helps a bit0 -
I have the same problem - Like you I have limited mobility and it really gets me down that DH and kids don't seem to mind living in filth: so one day everything that was left hanging around was thrown into the front garden for all the neighbours to see, now as a result of that they put all their stuff away.
I have also managed to get them to do their fair share of chores in the house by telling them if they don't they will not get any more meals cooked or laundry done it seems to have worked for now.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi. I don't know where you are or what your financial circumstances are, but I have a couple of ideas to chuck into the mix.
Could you employ your own cleaner? I know that gumtree often have adverts from cleaners looking for work. You might be able to afford to pay for an hour's cleaning?
Do you have any skills that you could swap for cleaning? Eg sewing, teaching a language? Maybe you could advertise on gumtree - obviously being careful not to get scammed or taken advantage of. Perhaps you could offer to cook a couple of meals for someone in exchange for their help with cleaning?
Could you contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau for help with appealing the Council's decision? Also, they might know of something like a Good Neighbour scheme too - maybe someone can come in and do heavier jobs for you like gardening if you can't manage this by yourself.
Is there anyone in the family your daughter respects, who could perhaps have a word with her about helping out more?
I hope some of this is helpful. Good luck.Aspire not to have more but to be more.
