Spoke to Shelter today who claim that £75 a month fee is the highest they have come across and will happily support me to take the Mortgage company through the small claims court. Very knowledgeable and offered to write a letter on my behalf free of charge there and then!
Said £30 to £40 is usual but as with Bank charges they are all being fought over at the minute so they see "no problem" in getting this reduced and/or claiming back the extortionate fees????
    I'll let you all know...

Oh it looks like I swore in a previous post but I honestly didn't. Someone has taken my innocent word and made it look like a real swear word. That's not cricket chaps??

The FSA have published guidance on this area

    Good practice

    • A policy is in place to minimise arrears charges, for example by not charging a monthly arrears management fee in cases where the borrower is maintaining an arrangement to repay arrears.

Sounds like your Lender is not behaving themselves...

    Cheers!

After forwarding a "nice" official FREE letter from Shelter my charges have been completely stopped. Shelter has advised that I could still chase back the fees 6x£75 after the repo hearing but it may take a while. They have given me another "nice" letter to use if I wish. How easy was that??? I hope this helps others to put them out of misery. One nil to the little guys. Hurrah!!

well done, seems crazy to charge £75 on top of your arranged repayments of £50.
Seems like it would take you forever to get back into black.
