Worth a try - Supermarket vouchers

In Tescos the tills only accept their own vouchers or manufacturers ones if you buy the goods. However the other day a saw a girl with a stack (20-30) of Sainburys ones obvious out of their in-store magazine. The checkout accepted the lot even though she did not appear to have bought any of the items. Sound like a quick way to save money especially now when staff are too busy to check.

Hi,I tried this for the first time at tescos on tuesday. They said policy had changed and they did not take vouchers if you did not buy the product.
So i guess its pot luck, have to say i was'nt amused and won't be shopping there again, will stick with asda who will take up to 10% off the bill with vouchers.0 -

Last weekend I had a debate with the Tesco cashier and supervisor about an internet coupon - the sort that's put on the internet by the product provider to print off. After referring up the management line it was accepted, but I launched off an enquiry to Tesco HQ and this was their line on 22/12/04:Thank you for contacting us regarding our policy on the acceptance of coupons.
Any coupons that display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.
With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. However, the coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.
This also includes coupons printed from the Internet. However, these will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy.
Regards
Gordon Scott
