Sony Sureshot

Can anyone help? I have a Sony Sureshot Digital camera and want to get a bigger memory stick for it. I have been told that I can only get a Sony memory stictk. Is this true? If so can anyone point me to where they are cheeper?

Thanks

Yes, it has to be 'Memory Stick DUO' or 'Memory Stick PRO DUO' (<--link has some good info). It doesn't have to be a Sony-branded memory stick but one manufactured by any company - but of course, it's best to go for recognised brands like Sony itself or Lexar/Sandisk.

To begin with, you could try 7DayShop, Amazon (free del above £15), eBuyer or eBay (<--all are search links). If purchasing from the lattermost, only get sealed, branded memory - preferably from a UK-based powerseller who offers the full manufacturer's warranty.

If undecided or unsure, here is an approx storage capacity chart to help you decide on memory size to get (unfortunately, this is also dependent on your budget!). Consider 'high-speed' memory only if you're camera supports it, you need it & can afford it. Good luck :) G

Memory stick duo is the half size model (Physically) some Sony cameras take these and some take the standard memory sticks. The duo will fit in a normal slot but you need a convertor to carry it. A full sized stick won't fior in a Duo slot as it's too long.

AsGoofyGAT says you can get other brands but it has to be a Memory Stick rather than any other type of memory unless it's the new R series which also takes Compact Flash.
