Pigsback - Free Gifts for Clicks

  • I think the tone of a message on a messageboard like this is always going to be clumsy and it means unless you're extra careful you can sound a bit agressive.

To be honest the thing I don;t like about this whole forum is that there is an unfriendliness to it.

If you look on the Boots thread you see the same bickering, or the tesco clubcard points, or whatever. The "old guard" get a little frosty.

The fact is new people are finding this site every day and new people don't know what a clickthrough is or a chalkboard let alone using a search function. It can be a bit frustrating when thread are duplicated but I would rather have a 100 point Easter Egg linked to five times than miss a free quid thank you!

better repeated friendly postings of everything that we find on pigsback on this thread than people genuinely feeling worried about posting. They are, after all, only trying to help other people. So what if someone has mentioned it 5 pages back? everyone starts somewhere and they will soon pick it up.

Even the person who kindly used to post all the answers to the quizzes appears to have been put off by people criticising them.

Next up we will be angry that the cross word link only appears at 12.15am and not 12.05.

Either that or we can all take a deep breath, spend a bit of time working through what we have or haven't got off the thread and be grateful that every week we are racking up more and more points.

The great irony is that the person who gets the most criticism is Darraghd, without whom none of us would have any clickthroughs, any competitions, any cross words, chalkboard, vouchers or squeezy piggies, and this thread would not even need to exist.

Pigsback is fun, this thread saves SO much time and let's enjoy it. Life is too short.

Note: all the links to the current crossword, questions and answers links have been extracted and copied from this thread on MSE and reposted on a loquax forum in a lovely, concise manner - i doubt they'll suffer with repostings or bickerings. It's a shame and ironic that all the links that have sourced such negativity are copied and directly benefitting another forum.

People aren't saying don't post and keep quiet, they're saying check before posting again so that the thread isn't full of repeat posts and becomes clogged up.

I don't think people are intentially being nasty or rude but it does become annoying and creates extra hassle, especially as the whole point in the thread is to save people time.

True, but do you realise that alll of the repetitive complaints about double posting are actually wasting more of peoples time than the duplicate posts in the first place! If you go back along this thread there are probably more moaning posts taking up more space than any of the short duplicates!

I know - that's why I normal don't bother adding anything to the discussion despite it being a bit annoying (I normally forget about it within 3 secs and get on with my life!)

There wouldn't be a problem if people who post duplicate links deleted their posts. This has been suggested many times now and surely would stop the bickering and the thread getting boring.

Although I agree with the rest of your post, TBH, I can't say I agree with the bit about Darragh.

Nice, hard-working guy though he might be, Darragh does not equal Pigsback. He's not the be-all-and-end-all who created all the quizzes and vouchers. :D He's their representative on this site, and his involvement here is a) part of his job, b) is not done purely out of goodness of his heart. PB get excellent, free consumer feedback through this site and it's worth a lot to them.

This thread existed long before Darragh came along. :)

    Point taken

but then "don't bite the hand that feeds" does also spring to mind.

I know he is not everything to do with pigsback, it is his job, but he does help people, chases up queries and generally fixes stuff, which he doesn't have to do.

Pigsback is good enough to survive whether Mrs Moggins in Cleethorpes got her toptable 50 piggypoints or not but Darragh still sorts it out without complaint. The way some people go on you'd think the directors of pigsback had just broken into their house and stolen one of their prize winning pedigree puppies rather than a failed link had cost them 30p, which was free anyway.

PS This thread was in no way meant as an insult to Mrs Moggins, as she is a fictional character, although if you post on here and your name is Mrs Moggins and you live near Grimsby please don't let that example make you feel unwelcome.

Ah, but he does. :) Darragh, Karolina and Rachel are their customer services, so it is their job to resolve customer queries.

Anyhoo, I don't want to start a big discussion again about PB not being a charity (which they are not), as it has been done many times before. A significant number of people here share your views, TBH, of being grateful and not complaining as we're getting things 'for free'.

Old pains in the neck like me, on the other hand, expect and demand excellent service all the time (as I don't see that I'm getting freebies; I'm getting compensated for submitting my personal information and being subjected to marketing). :D

But back to your original point, which I agree with wholeheartedly, is being nice to everyone on this board. Yes, in an ideal world there would be no duplicates or rubbish waffly posts (errrmmm :o), but hey, who's perfect... :rotfl:

(I personally blame it all on the thanks system. People want to post all the offers ASAP to get as many thanks as possible and that's why we get duplicates. Maybe we should try declaring this thread a thanks-free zone and see how many duplicates we get then! )
