Mildew and lino

Options
Hello! I am a bit of a lurker round here but I am fascinated by this board, try to live very old style myself and am hoping someone can help me with a problem.

We have just come back from a week away in our caravan to find that the pipe under the sink has leaked and water has dripped steadily under the lino in our kitchen (well, between two layers of lino I think and it is my fault as I knew the tap leaked and I forgot to turn off the supply to it before we went away) and it has gone black with mildew, right across the floor. I have no idea what to do to clean it and I am really worried as we rent the house (and thanks to a mess with housing benefit are three months behind with the rent) and it looks terrible at the moment and I cannot afford a new floor covering as my husband has been made redundant and I am not working much so we are really struggling.

Does anyone know what to do?

Thank you for reading,

Heather

Thank you - I will give bleach a try in the morning - see if I can lift the lino and get bleach underneath it into the layer that seems to have had the leak in it.

Thank you for your suggestion, does anyone else have any ideas or advice?

    Thanks,

    Heather
