  • just what i need, ive just smashed my iron :-/ :-X :'(
  • got one very nice it is too!
  • Fabulous, I was just thinking of buying a new iron. I have ordered myself a new jacket instead and I get the iron FREE ;D
    Thanks for the post
  • Hi there
I have just tried this code, but it is telling me it is invalid.
Am I doing something wrong?? ???
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!
  • dont bother with this company they are using tactics to get us to buy from  them then they mess you about, first they will steal back the discount they gave you then they wont answer emails and when you ring they will mess you about on the phone and then they will tell you to email them. (WHICH WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS FOR AN ANSWER) they are well overpriced to start with, and they hit the the less well off. There should be a law against what they are doing.
anyone know where i stand on the promotion discount that was advertised on handbag.com, cos empire say it was not their advertisement.
yet they honoured discount for other people. ???
  • what is the name of the complaints authority that i can complain to ?
  • dont bother with this company they are using tactics to get us to buy from  them then they mess you about,
Sorry to sound naive here, but I rarely deal with catalogue shops.
If I order, say, some socks at £10 (which may be overpriced) and put this code in to receive the iron, how are they likely to mess me about?
On the face of it getting a spare iron and three socks for a tenner doesn't seem too bad, but I don't want hassle!
  • what im basically pointing out is that they advertised a code on handbag.com for all to see to get people to buy using that code, and then they steal back the discount they gave you. i feel that this was a mean tactic aimed at poorer people who think that they are paying one price but actually end up paying 25 pound more.
remember the sale 75% off!!! (another tactic)
they have allowed some people to have the discount and not others. although on handbag.com the discount code was for all to see. so why shouldnt all of us be able to use it!!!
anyone know who i can complain to ?

i thought empire didn't actually put the code on handbag? empire did actually have that huge discount but it was off full price items only. people used it with sale items online then got upset when empire re-adjusted the prices. all empire's existing customers got the full terms and conditions when they were sent the code. you can never use a discount code on sale items with them. i don't mean to be nasty but it's clearly stated in their terms and conditions, when you use a code you find listed on a site you take the chance that there's small print you haven't read.

as for the iron, yes they will send you the iron even if your oder is for £10 or less. postage and returns are free. they might not take the code if you're not already a customer though.
