Need a new printer

Hi, I'm looking for a new printer for the PC. I only use it for printing the odd letter or receipt and of course the usual printables for the children I don't need it to do photo's. I want a printer which will give me good results and be cheap to refil (we go through a lot of ink in our house thanks to CBeebies). Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Canon's and HP seem to be cheapest for ink in my experience, and Lexmark quite expensive.Who is John Galt?0

Canon - the ink cartridge and print head are seperate so the ink cartridges are cheaper.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Hello Megabusymum
I'll move your thread over to the 'Consumables' board, where it should get more views and responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Hi
Have you looked at the Epsoms, very cheap and cheerful, and cheap compatible ink cartridges.
This one for £33.98

Hope this helps0 -
look at the cost of the ink cartridge rather than the printer canon do new cartridges for about £4-£5. some come with scanners and copy facility wioth themMoney's too tight to mention!!!0

hi, my advice would be to keep away from epsons especially if its not being used all the time as you will waste a whole load of ink continually cleaning the printheads.
I've had both epsons and canon printers and would definately recommend the canon every time for quality and running costs"we don't stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing."0 -
Cormon, for what OP wants I see no reason to dismiss Epson's I know they have their lover's & haters but for basic printing I always found them very cheap to run with compatibles, although I now have a Canon which I agree is a better printer.
The 33.98 Epson printer mentioned above does not include P&P, Curry's price is abit cheaper at £34.94 which includes P&P.0 -
I Have tried many printers in my time and must admit after going full circle I have settled with an epson (830U) but I never buy epson carts.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0
