Medical Transcription

Hi,

I am looking for typing work from home, and was looking at Medical Transcription as a possible option. I have spent 9 years working in Health Claims so am very familiar with medical terminology. Does anyone know anything about this, any reputable companies to approach etc as I have read that there are lots of scams out there.

I did this for several years (when my children were younger and I wanted to work from home). I got the work myself, by approaching every single doctor's practice in my area and offering my services to them direct, rather than going through any agency. I had a remarkably good uptake, too - I ended up doing medical transcription work of various kinds for about half a dozen surgeries, and did the accident claims reports for two of those.

Design yourself a leaflet, and send them out to all your local practice managers!

Hi there. I also work from home as a medical and legal transcriber but the idea of contacting doctors' surgeries directly is brilliant. CJ, could you tell me if you used your own templates or if the individual doctors' surgeries provided them for you. I know from working with agencies that no two templates are ever the same.
